This is a manual lens and I'm shooting in 'P' mode at ISO 400 and 800 so the camera sets the exposure time.
Here are some mirror selfies of me shooting this combo (high ISO under odd light):
The closest macro focus (1:1) lets you get right up on the subject.
Here I'm approaching a fly on a Star Magnolia bloom.
Closer ... Closest ... the fly is departing with that giant front glass looming.
Here's a shot with some artifacts ... perhaps lens flare:
Here's a pair of shots that show the depth of field possible with this lens.
And his one's stopped down to maybe F16 (manual lens doesn't report to camera for EXIF data):
Here are three shots showing the "signature" mildly out-of-focus background look of this lens:
Here's a pair of shots, again wide open, then closer and stopped down to play w/DoF:
Some wider shots:
More close-up shots:
Here's some of my 1st day of shooting with
Venus Optics Laowa 15mm F/4 Wide Angle Macro on a Sony a7Sii.
I've got in-body stabilization turned on -- I had to manually enter 15mm for that to work properly.
Most of these are scaled to 50% of the camera's XFINE JPEGs. Some were processed with Canon printing software.
Many of the shots are cropped; some have been tweaked for exposure and sharpness. No color corrections -- all auto white balance.
Here I'm getting pollen from the quince blossom on the UV filter that LensRentals.com supplied on the lens:
Because it's a manual focus, it takes time as I get closer to focus before I can shoot.
So it's going to be hard to get bug shots because the lens is so big and close, and it takes
time to focus.
This one's wide open (F4) with very shallow DoF:
